Why and How We Worship
We invite you to worship and praise the Lord with us here at Kingdom Outreach Ministries International. Perhaps there are some questions that come in your mind concerning our services. Some of the "Whys" are answered below. We attempt to make our worship totally scriptural. The family of God, or the church, that meets here is the Living Body of Christ. We therefore, do the work that Jesus did when He was here on earth.
Our Heavenly Father has, as declared in His word, poured out His Spirit upon all mankind. When the Holy Spirit is present or working in an individual he/she may react or respond in different ways. The following is a list of 12 ways in which Holy Spirit may manifest or express
Himself. So open your hearts now and be blessed of God!
1. Why do we clap our hands?
a. PS 47:1 Oh clap your hands, all you nations. Shout to God with the voice of triumph!
2. Why do we lift our hands?
a. PS 134:2 Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD.
b. 1 TIM 2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
3. Why do we have audible praise unto God?
a. PS 34:1 I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
b. ACT 4:24 And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:
4. Why do we shout?
a. ISA 4:5 And when the ark of the covenant of the LORD came into the camp, all Israel shouted with a great shout, so that the earth rang again.
b. PS 47:5 God is gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet. :6 Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.
5. Why do we dance before the Lord?
a. EX 15:20 And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.
b. PS 150:4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
6. Why do some run?
a. 1KI 18:46 And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.
7. Why do we pray or sing in tongues and in English?
a. 1CO 14:14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. 15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
8. Why do we have speaking with tongues and interpretation of those tongues?
a. 1CO 14:39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.
b. 1CO 12:7 But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the profit of all. 10 and to another workings of miracles; and to another prophecy; and to another discerning of spirits; to another different kinds of languages; and to another the interpretation
9. What is prophecy? Prophecy is speaking on behalf of the Lord. When someone in the congregation does this, it should be judged to whether it is scriptural and brings comfort, strengthening and encouragement.
a. 1CO 14:3 But he who prophesies speaks to men for their edification, exhortation,
b. 1CO 14:1 Follow after love, and earnestly desire spiritual gifts, but especially that
you may prophesy.
10. Why do we anoint with oil and pray for the sick?
a. MARK 6:13 They cast out many demons, and anointed many with oil who were sick, and healed them.
b. JAMES 5:14 Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, 15 and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, it will be
11. Why do some groan and travail?
a. ROMANS 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
